FALLOUT 4

Fallout 4 was one of the best games of 2015. The problem with it was that for PC users it did not really look that good as a fully modded Skyrim in example.

Half a year has passed now, what mods can be used to let Fallout 4 look great? Follow the tutorial to find out.

See the video on the right to see the end result.

1: Essentials - Nexus Mod Manager and ini changes

First make sure you got a clean version of Fallout 4 by either deleting your game and your game folder & Fallout 4 folder in your ''my games'' folder. If you have a slow internet connection, check out on the Nexus forums how to clean your Fallout 4. If you have mods installed, it can conflict with this guide. (Feel free to install any mods that you like after this tutorial)

Before we can mod Fallout 4, first some lines need to be changed or added: (if your .ini files are 'read only' , uncheck it in Windows)

Add in Fallout4Prefs.ini under [Launcher] :   bEnableFileSelection=1

Add in Fallout4Custom.ini under [Archive] :  bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
                                                                     sResourceDataDirsFinal=

  • Nexus Mod Manager      -   The mod manager that we are going to use for our Fallout 4 modding

For people who are advising to use Mod Organizer, feel free to use it.  This tutorial is created for Nexus Mod Manager, so please keep that in mind!

2: ENB/Reshade/Light/Weather + ENB

  • Reshade 2.0                               -               Go to the website and download reshade 2.0    Open the .zip file and place all files (except "ReShade32.dll" )                                                                                inside of the Fallout 4 directory and Rename ReShade64.dll to "dxgi.dll"

  • Core ENB                                    -               Download v0.291 (not any newer) and Place 'd3d11.dll' & 'd3dcompiler_46e.dll' from the ENB folder inside of the                                                                        Fallout 4 directory (your : \Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4 folder)

  • Clean Light Preset                     -               Choose a version of clean Light under files, and place all of the files in your Fallout 4 game directory.

  • Fr4nsson's Light Tweaks          -               Optional to remove BLOOM if you really dont like the BLOOM effect

  • Darker Nights                             -                Also download Darker Nights for Radiant Clouds and Fogs 1.3 and Darker Nights for True Storms 1.3

  • True storms                                 -               Also download OPTIONAL - No constant rads during rad rains.

3: Textures

From now feel free to add any specific texture or gun mod that you like!

4: World Overhaul (optional)

This section is purely optional because it might be a bit lore unfriendly. What this does is that it will make the Fallout 4 landscape a bit less dead, and a bit more greener.

I prefer Fallout 4 Resurrection, but Fallout 4 Seasons: Summer is also a really good choice!

Example of the world overhaul:

5: Character and NPC

6: Immersion (optional)

Some optional immersion mods. If you have any other mods, feel free to install them now as well.
